Let’s get this party started! I sat down with Lindsey from Iris House Rentals to chat about why you need a planner and how she got into wedding planning. Lindsey is one of our Featured Vendors and we absolutely love working with her. Ready to see what she had to say? Let’s go!
Liz: Hey Lindsey, thanks for sitting down with me today. Let’s start out by telling everyone how you got into wedding planning.
Lindsey: From an early age, I always enjoyed putting together small events or should I say parties. I was known for my annual pool party and Halloween party throughout middle and high school each year with the help of a few friends. I remember being very detailed about the guest list, making a music playlist, and planning the décor and food. After leaving a sales job in Nashville, I was introduced to another event company that I worked for, for about six months until covid shut everything down. I realized how much I enjoyed the whole planning process and meeting with clients, that I wanted to go off on my own and open my own business.
Liz: Wow, that sounds like quite a whirlwind. I know 2020 was crazy for a lot of wedding vendors. Weddings are so much fun but what’s your favorite part of planning a wedding?
Lindsey: Definitely meeting my clients and hearing what their vision is for their special day. Of course, going over the small details like the place settings, florals and decor is another one of my favorites! Seeing it all come together is always magical on the day of. All the small details and final touches bring not only a smile to my clients, but also to me and that is the best moment right before the wedding guests arrive.
Liz: Oh my gosh, I love arriving at weddings and seeing how unique every single one is. I love that you get to help make that happen for couples. So there are obviously planners and day of coordinators. What’s the difference and why do you prefer one over the other?
Lindsey: Having a full wedding planner, I feel is more helpful for the clients who are needing more assistance from the start and can also help your planner get to know you more on a personal level. This also allows planners to have better knowledge of all vendors, venues, and setup details. Having just a day of Coordinator can often leave your planners more uncertain about how you envisioned your day or how the setup is supposed to be. If you plan to only have a day of coordinator, it is very important that you have a very in-depth meeting to talk about your expectations and details of the day. Overall, I feel that it comes down to knowing each other better and feeling comfortable and confident that everyone is on the same page.
Liz: That is so true! Even being in the wedding industry myself, I would 100% want a planner if I were planning a wedding. They can take so much stress off of you during such an exciting but stressful time. Thank you so much for hanging out and chatting with me. Where can couples find you online?
Lindsey: You can find me in a few different places. I am obviously a featured vendor here at Clarksville Wedding Company and you can find me under the planner section on the website here. You can also find me on Facebook: Iris House Rentals, and on Instagram: Iris House Rentals. I’d love to help plan your special day.
